Student Services

Student Services

Potomac College believes strongly that a comprehensive program is important to student success. Thus, in addition to the orientation to the College and the educational process provided by the admissions counselors, the College holds new student orientation sessions 16 times per year

Nevertheless, the college includes within its student services component a full range of offerings to help meet the extra-educational needs of all students.

The College maintains two official websites, one for the College for public information purposes and one specifically for students. The public website at www.potomac.edu is designed to provide general information about the College and its offerings. The student website at http://student.potomac.edu is specifically designed to assist students once enrolled. This website includes the schedules of classes, copies of course syllabi necessary forms and documents, a link to the College’s on-line bookstore, and the latest news and information about College offerings.

Student Government

Due to the self-learning and informal environment of adult learning, Potomac College’s students see little need to report through a student government association, and students prefer to speak directly and immediately rather than have to wait for a student Government Association meeting. The student government association is currently seeking to identify ways to draw the adult learner into meaningful dialog within and beyond the actual academic classroom environment.

Alumni Activities

The college's Alumni Association came under new leadership in 2008.  The new leadership is currently establishing the Executive Board, Board of Directors and support committees.  In 2008 the college's Alumni will undertake several important initiatives to further institutionalize the alumni as a major role for the college.  In addition, the new leadership team will work to engage members as active participants of the college Alumni Association.  In 2008 the Alumni Association will offer more services to its members via regular  media as well as via a newly developed Alumni website.  If you are interested in assisting with the alumni efforts email  David Kimble.

Learning Resource Center

The College’s central Learning Resources Center and Library is housed at the Washington, DC campus. A professional librarian manages both facilities ands is available when classes and seminars are in session.  The Potomac College Library is an institutional member of the Association of College and Research Libraries and of the American Library Association.
